Tournament Roundup

We apologize for the delayed posting of this information. The wonderful buzz you get from experiencing the fishing paradise that is Panama takes a while to wear off. But we’re back to work now and we’re here to report an excellent event despite some of the initial concerns we had about registration fees and scheduling. For the live report that was posted please visit this forum thread.

We have to thank the Panama Sport Fishing Lodge for the spectacular world class experience. They really go all out to make sure that you not only have the catch of a lifetime but that you enjoy the best experience of a lifetime. They spoiled us with amazing five star service like no other. We had an incredibly fun-filled week that was both tournament-intense, and indulgently relaxing. The fun, the memories, the camaraderie, none would be possible without the efforts of John, owner of PSFL, and the awesome captains and staff.

We had a total of three boats with two competing in the tournament:

Team 1 (aka “Team Dangerous”):
- Dan Minner
- Frank Contreras
- Jack Brunby
- Richard Herbst

Team 2:
- Guy Foulke (TJ substituted for the 1st day due to Guy’s delayed travel)
- Gary Anderson
- Skip Hoagland
- Reggie Delacruz

1st Place Yellowfin Tuna went to Team 2 for TJ’s 130lb Tuna.

Being our first tournament, we learned a lot from this experience and are very excited about next year’s tournament, currently slotted for February 2010. Come join the fun!

Tournament Changes

Due to the limited entries this year, we have had to make changes to the overall tournament. Instead of a 4-day tournament, it will now be 2 days for the tournament with 1 prefish day plus 2 days of fun fishing for a total of 5 fishing days. And unfortunately, we’ve also had to revise the awards and prizes. With four boats signed up instead of nine, we’ve had to reduce the cash award to $23,000 and make the event a team competition rather than individual. Your entry will still include the overnight stay at the Veneto Hotel as well as any intermediate travel and all meals and lodging. The Panama Sport Fishing Lodge will be providing a world class experience as always and we look forward to having a blast.

Registration fee reduced!

panama_bill_fishThank you to all who have expressed interest in our tournament. We have gotten a lot of feedback and understand that the tournament entry fee of $3500 was an issue for many folks. We were truly aiming to provide the ultimate first class experience but also realize that during these uncertain economic times, many are willing to forgo the extras and just get out there and fish. So, we have reworked our plans and still intend on providing the best accomodations possible, but have reduced the entry fee to $2300.

Working on 7 days of meals & lodging

Hello y’all! We are currently working out the details and including in your entry all meals and lodging starting from Saturday (May 16th) to the following Friday (May 22nd) . If you’re wondering why you must arrive in Panama on May 16th and leave on the 22nd when the tournament dates are from the 18th to the 21st, that’s because there will be two overnight stays in Panama City at the Veneto Hotel. And yes, we are including these two stays as well as the dinners as part of your entry. If time permits, we may even do a tour of the Panama Canal. We are hashing out all the details now, so thanks for being patient with us. We are very excited about what’s planned and we hope y’all will have a blast! If you have any suggestions, questions, or comments, do let us know by commenting below on this post or sending us a message via our contact page. Thanks!
